So one of the common questions we get over the phone is “what is your cheapest vehicle”. That is fine if you are looking to buy outright! But a common misconception is that a less expensive car is easier to finance. It actually is not quite so simple. It is usually easier to finance a newer vehicle with fewer miles than it would be to go for something older, less expensive, and higher mileage. As Bryan explains, this is usually a bank-lending decision. From the bank/lender’s perspective, there is less of a risk for them to give a loan for a newer vehicle, which is generally regarded as more reliable. At the end of the day, it needs to make sense for the bank to approve a loan.

That being said, there is no “hard line” on which years, makes, and models can be approved for a loan at a specific price or rate.
